The second time I saw twenty | one | pilots changed my life entirely. November 14, 2012. My boyfriend really wanted to see them again, and they had a headlining show at The Pike Room, so I agreed to go. I can't even properly put into words what happened that night; I would never stop talking, and I just couldn't do it justice with my words. It is truly something everyone should experience at least once in their life. It was a much smaller venue, and they had a longer set-list, so things got way more personal. When Tyler gave his explanation on the story behind the logo, something hit me. That's when I really felt my connection to the band. They became more than just another music group, more than just two guys. I guess it was at that point that I started listening to their lyrics, not just with my ears, but my heart as well.
It's hard for me to really go into depth about everything this band has done for me, but I owe a lot to Tyler and Josh - whether they want to believe the impact they truly have on people or not. Whenever things in my life aren't going so well and I struggle to keep sane, I know I can always find comfort in their music. They are one of those bands that I can tell have saved, and will continue to save, many lives just simply with their songs and by being them and doing what they do. Tyler has told us many times at concerts that no matter what we're going through, no matter how difficult our lives may seem at any given moment, we are never alone. He wants us to forget about our demons at these concerts. To be there, not in our heads. We go to the concerts, and we lose ourselves. They truly care about their fans I feel like, and I really love, appreciate, and respect them for that.
I have met many people at twenty | one | pilots concerts that I consider really close friends now. That's what this band is already capable of doing - connecting people from across a town, across a state, across a country; taking complete strangers and turning them into friends. In such a short amount of time this band has made a huge impact on my life. I honestly don't know where I might be right now had I never discovered this band.
I have seen them a total of 5 times so far, and I'm already planning my next two concert experiences. I can't wait to see what they bring to the table next.
