How did you become a Pilot? What is it that hooked you? What has their music taught you? Anything! This site is meant to be a place for Pilots to gather and encourage others through their creations... through their stories - Let other know that they're not alone in their struggles. You can share lyrics that touch you, that make you think, that break you down. You can send in pictures or creations of the guys that you've done or taken during a concert. Anything!
What's my story? Well I heard House of Gold on a college radio station about 3 years ago. I thought I'd give them a listen later on. I found Guns for Hands and that was my favorite song for a few weeks. Then I found more of their music, and I was, I know it sounds cliché, in love. They were the first band I had ever heard that could relate to me so well through the words that were sung/spoken. I got tickets to see them with my friend on November 11th at the Grog Shop in Cleveland last year; they were perfect. I am seeing them November 27th this year at the House of Blues and I saw them with Panic! At the Disco and Fall Out Boy not too long ago. It's amazing to see them go from a small bar like the Grog Shop to a huge arena like the Wolstein Center. I almost cried seeing them. A lot of their songs really relate to me. The one that REALLY does is Migraine. It helps me get through my bad days because it reminds me that I'm not alone and people are feeling just as bad as I am sometimes. The second song that I really relate to is Kitchen Sink. It's so deep and meaningful. I can't get enough of it. Twenty One Pilots have brought out my creativity once again. I was in a creative slump, just not doing anything with my artistic abilities. Their music inspires me so much. It got me into the weird, whimsical part of my brain and is helping me create things I never thought I could. I’m working towards my goals as an artist and I can thank Tyler and Josh for that. The music is not just a creative escape. It helps me deal with my problems personally; or as Tyler would call it, “dealing with my demons.” Sometimes I think, “Why am I here? Who am I benefitting?” Then I listen to their music and really start thinking. I’m here for a reason, I don’t know what it is, but I’m part of an amazing group of people and have two encouraging parents and I am not alone in feeling unwanted at this point in time. I turn to Tyler’s words because they explain me perfectly. Nobody understands the music like I do, and it hurts when people bash them. They have literally gotten me through every bad situation I’ve had to overcome in high school. Trees and Screen are my favorite songs of all time right now. They actually make me emotional. The lyrics are touching and the music is beautiful. I know I’m not a “hardcore” fan, who’s pretty much done every bit of research to learn about this band, but they are my favorite, and I love them to death Twenty One Pilots will forever be the band that I can turn to for an escape and will never get enough of. I’m in love with a band composed of a man who plays a ukulele and raps about the demons in his mind and sings to his mother, as well as a drummer who’s just about as sane as him; and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
