All of the battles I had fought up until that point- depression, suicidal thoughts, bullying - were now won. I still do have to fight every day to maintain my joy and not let the darkness get inside my head again, which is like trying to swim with an anchor chained to my leg. But it’s a fight I’m willing to take part in, and I’m going to wake up every morning with a smile on my face because my brain may be sick but that’s okay.
