Music has been the one constant in my life therefore I've always been the kind of person to rely heavily on it to get me through whatever it is I'm experiencing, be it good or bad. But Twenty One Pilots does so much more than get me through.
Let's start with a theme that is present whenever people discuss the band; they played and continue to play a big part in keeping me not only alive but open to the possibility of beauty and happiness in life in a way a lot of clique members just can't explain. Whether it's the lyrics that seem to resonate so deeply with human nature at its very core or the passion with which the guys perform, there's just something about the band that screams stay alive. As well as this, Twenty One Pilots have bought me closer to the people I love. First with my brother, we started to drift apart after a close childhood and I thought we would just not be friends once we grew up but recently he discovered the band through their more hip-hop sounds and won't stop playing Blurryface. We now have something to passionately talk about and I'm planning to take him to see the band for his first concert to show him how much I value him.
As well as my family, the music got my (kind of) partner and I through turbulent times. After talking every night for a few years straight about our futures and how much we adored each other, he had a dark period and we disconnected to the point of not speaking at all, then followed some of the loneliest months of my life. But, through it all the Twenty One Pilots song we fawned over together, Addict With A Pen, kept me believing and patient. When he eventually got back in contact I discovered that the whole time I had thought he'd moved on he was actually missing me horribly and that he too used Addict With A Pen to remind him of what we had and how much we love each other. Long story short we have cried to that song many times together and we are going to see the guys for the first time together soon so when they play Addict With A Pen I think we'll share a moment that'll we'll remember for a life time and it's all because of Twenty One Pilots.
There's this love that Tyler and Josh have created in the clique and with most everyone that listens to their music that sets them so far apart from other artists, it has never felt like they are performing for any other reason than to spread this love and share the world as they see it and I consider myself so lucky to be a part of their journey. So thank you Tyler, Josh and everyone who has helped them on their way because without you I dare say the world would be much darker for so many.
