My name is Chelsea Jo from Toledo, Ohio and this is my story.
I've been a huge fan of tøp for over three years now and, like hundreds of others, Tyler & Josh have practically saved my life. When I was a freshman in high school, my life went in the toilet. I had a mentally absusive ex, developing depression, and self acceptance issues. By then I was a fan of tøp for over a year and already met them both at a small college show in Adrian, Michigan. This is when their music started hitting me and meaning more then ever before. Yes I did know what they were talking about in their lyrics, but I was generally happy when I first listened to them so I didn't think too much of it.
By the end of my freshman year I was extremely depressed and was considering suicide. People started to catch on, but only one person really helped me get through it all, a boy named Griffin who lived over 500 miles away from me. We talked about how we both weren't very happy and by the beginning of my sophomore year of high school, he was considered one of my best friends. This I would say was when I hit rock bottom. I had meltdowns in the middle of the day and slept all the time. Then, around September, my best friend Griffin admitted he was in love with me. Now, I'm not trying to make this a love story, trust me, but this does play a huge role in my recovery. Yes, I did tell him that I had deep feelings for him as well, making us some type of "lovers".
In October, I went to the Quiet is Violent tour in Detroit and met Tyler for the second time and I finally got to tell him two simple words: Thank you. Although i know people have told him before, it still meant the world to me that I got to finally say it. By the end of my sophomore year I was beginning to find happiness again. Tyler inspired me to start writing poetry which helped a ton. Now, I am a junior in high school, drum major of our 200+ person marching band, in a committed relationship with the boy I met through tøp, and healthy. I couldn't be more grateful for these two boys who saved my life. Their music and words touched a certain part of me that I never knew was there. So thank you. Thank you for the weekend trips to your concerts (I went to Hømetøwn, Michigan, & Indy a few weeks ago three days in a row) and love you give us. I am Twenty One Pilots |-/
